M2M – many to mention LOL

This Norwegian duo was like the Taylor Swift during my teenage years. Like this if, once in your gradeschool/highschool life, you liked a boy and you have an M2M song dedicated to him. )

I was watching M2M videos earlier and I became really nostalgic. They don’t sound really good but their songs appealed to us when we were younger because these songs speak of teenage girls’ first love encounters – the bliss, the pain, the confusion, the struggle. Though their career’s short-lived, I still love them. They remind me that I was once a teenage girl who’s stupid enough to think that the most painful thing on earth was to be dumped at the age of 15.

I enjoyed visiting memory lane with their songs such as Pretty Boy, Everything You Do, The Day You Went Away, and Mirror, Mirror. Listening to these sends me back to the time when I breathe Westlife, Spice Girls, BSB and other 90′s artists. Gawd. I miss my cassette tapes! And CDs!

On a totally unrelated note, I wish I can go back to the days when the hardest decision ever made is picking a crayon.

Cross-processing in Photoshop, now I know

You know you’re depressed when you need a plan just to walk across the room. I can’t even get up my bed.

And so I spent all day inside my room – sleeping, munching on cereals, answering *work-related, meh* emails, sleeping, and then more sleeping. But at least I did one productive thing today. I tried cross-processing in Photoshop. Haha

I am never a Photoshop genius. I rely on Photoshop actions, mostly, when editing my pictures before I post them here. Or sometimes I would just use Lightroom to clean up photos.

But today I read a tutorial from the Creative Dork. Finally, Robbie shared how he post-process his photos. I have been wanting to ask him but I kept on forgetting about it and the post came first haha.

Anyway, here’s my attempt in following Rob’s tutorial. The photos I used below were taken by my Nyok friend Winston (Batang Yagit) during our photoshoot in Intramuros last week:

Books. Passion. Nostalgia.

Books. The four titles you can see I brought them out of the storage and I plan to reread them.

I didn’t know renewing my passion would feel this great.

I was looking for my paperback copy of Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger this morning. This classic has been my favorite since I first read it back in 2002. I’ve read it a hundred times, most especially during the lowest times of my life where angst and anger are pretty much the same. In the most weird way, this book – which is nothing near a romance of sort – has helped me get by and move on from previous heart breaks. But I can’t seem to find the book.

After not feeling well for exactly a week now, I figured it might do me good if I renew my passion for reading. The last novel I finished was from few months ago, The White Queen by Philippa Gregory. After that, I can’t seem to find any more time to read.

Yesterday I got Mitch Albom’s books – Tuesdays with Morrie and Have a Little Faith – from Powerbooks Trinoma. I have finished the former in one sitting, over breakfast this morning. Yes I just read Tuesdays with Morrie and I wished I read it before. What I think about the book deserves a separate post.

So during the recent days that I had series of deep contemplation, I figured what I needed to do: read more and write more. I’d like to be the artistic person that I was before, only I wish to do better this time.

Yes that is me and my hair all over my face, I know it’s kinda stupid but I posted it anyway lol. And yes, that’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in paperback. My bestfriend gave that to me few days after my birthday last August – I know this will break his heart K. As far as he knows, I’m a pretty fan of Harry Potter books and that I haven’t read the last installment. I was. So there, there.

After two months, the book is now a hospitable place for pixie dust. I haven’t even read the first few pages.
And it surprises me that I have grown out my once deep interest for the book. During my early years, I would excitedly read all the Harry Potter books – I borrowed all the six books – without putting them down. I would really feel the rush, the emotions, and the thrill. I loved all the Quidditch games, and the characters, and the classes, and everything! I even had a list of all the spells that were mentioned in each book.

When the first Harry Potter film came out in 2001, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, my addiction to the books and movies grew as large as I could have imagined. I watched the movie five times in cinema houses and more than 50 times in VCD – the mother bought me an original copy, how sweet. I almost memorized each and every line! I spotted all the book and movie differences – that annoyed me so much that time, because the movie was far from what I have imagined it in my head (but oh well, the second HP movie was far more disappointing) – but there were awesome changes as well like when they altered the Quidditch pitch from a regular stadium to an open field one with spectators sitting on high towers surrounding the pitch. Also, most of my internet surfing time during those days were spent in Mugglenet.Com – sniffing on HP gossips and stuff. The guys are still up until now.

And oh how I love Daniel Radcliffe! And and how I thought I looked a lot like Emma Watson! Haha that was the most silly thought I had ever had in connection with the Harry Potter craze – that Emma and I were sisters in our past lives! I remember using her pictures in my social networking profiles. Tsk tsk.

Anyhoo, I can go on and on and on talking about Harry Potter and all the stuff I loved and knew about it but one blog entry would not suffice. And… what’s my point again? Ocrap I’ve almost forgot! What I’m trying to say here is maybe I don’t like Harry Potter anymore. Ouch.

Maybe, just maybe, I didn’t love it that much to make me hang on to it up until my adulthood. Or maybe it I’ve realized it wasn’t worth hanging on to anyway. Or maybe it was worth it but it wasn’t anymore. Or maybe I’ve just changed my priorities – work and blogging and makeup and managing finances is now more important than memorizing lines, collecting stuff, reading all news and gossips and stuff, and losing myself into that imaginary wizard-ing world.

Or maybe.. I wasn’t really talking about Harry Potter after all.
