Feeling young!

As you now know, Hong Kong is my favorite out-of-the-country chillax destination. So here’s a P52L from last year’s visit to Hong Kong Disneyland. I remember I was really giddy like a little girl and soooper excited!! Look how happy and kiddie that is!!

Well, there’s nothing much on the look because it’s a normal cold-weather outfit. Above I’m wearing a sweater I got from a Mango outlet on our way to Disneyland, underneath that is a black racer back. I think the key piece here is the red shawl that I would normally wear on semi-formal occasions.

Soooper expensive ice cream!!! As far as I can remember, this cost HKD18! o_O

O crap, I’m running out of materials I can use for my P52L. I still have 41 weeks to go!!! o_O

P52L: Week 8 Bolinao Lighthouse

QUICK POST. Because I can’t find time these days. =))

I remember I got a compliment wearing this white beach dress in Boracay. A Caucasian woman came up to me and asked where I bought it because it’s really pretty. I got this in Boracay last year for only Php120. What’s nice with beach dress is that you can take it anywhere because it’s super light ( you can fold it or roll it and it’s really small I swear ) and you would only need a nice satin shawl and it would transform from a simple beach day dress to a fab night beach party dress.

The pair of pink sunnies above is from Cotton On in Singapore, bought it on sale for only SGD5. Colorful beaded bracelet is from Landmark department store for only Php30.

And of course, my ever reliable, versatile and can’t-live-without pair of pink flip flops from Havs.

I’m super excited to go back to Bolinao this weekend. Birthday party at Patar Beach with other travel bloggers! Yeay!

So there goes my Week 8. Bilis noh? HAHA

P52L: Week 7 Black and Gray

Week 7 is delayed by 9 days

Anywaaaay. Here’s me in skirt and boots (again). These were taken last Februarys HK visit.

Here I was wearing my ever favorite knee-length boots, a turtle neck shirt from Mango (can’t remember the price because I bought this last 2010 HK visit), a black cardigans from Cotton On (only HKD50) and a short skirt I bought in Kirin Kirin, a small fashion boutique in Robinsons Metro East, for only Php150.

There goes also a pair of above-the-knee cotton socks from Forever21 (less than Ph150), a scarf and a pair of tights to keep me warm.

P52L: Week 5 Summer shorts!

Last week I spent a few days in Hong Kong and Macau for a very very short and impromptu trip. It’s very hot and humid there during these months.

I spent my second day touring different temples in HK. I went there several times but I wasn’t able to visit any temples except for the ones in Nan Lian garden.

When I planned to visit the temples, I knew that I had to be in my most comfortable outfit. Considering the temperature and humidity, it’s undoubtedly practical to wear light clothes. And because I knew I had to walk, I wore comfy sneakers.

This was taken in Gateway Tower 2 in Tsim Sha Tsui. Layering my favorite Forever 21 ‘multi-purpose’ sleeveless shirt (Php135) with an off shoulder striped blouse from Cotton On (HKD75/Php450). The cute bag’s also from Forever 21. Of course, that cute pink shades is only SGD5, from Cotton On Singapore.

Surprisingly, I enjoyed my solo temple escapade. I had no one to complain to, so I kept my chill even in the most frantic situation of getting drenched with sweat and dying of thirst. =))

Here’s a very similar outfit I wore during a Google seminar on Adsense and Analytics. Instead of layering a sleeveless shirt with a blouse, what I did here is layer a floral cardigan over the shirt:

P52L: Week 3 Boyfriend shirt is Hot

I always enjoy going around in Hong Kong. It’s never a hassle to commute even on your most fab day wear because the public transportation system there is super comfy and doable unlike here in Manila. When in HK, I prefer taking MTRs than buses. Walking during the cold months is very enjoyable.

Last February I was able to spend a week in HK (and a daytrip in Macau). These photos were taken in Argyle on the last day of my trip. Shopping day this was!

Here I’m wearing a boyfriend shirt and a skirt. I layered a thin brown belt over the button-down shirt to give curves to a manly cut. As I remember it, I got the shirt from Zara, on sale. Php990. Originally Php2500.

I bought the boots from Cotton On on the first night. It was on sale! Originally priced 250HKD, I got it for only 99HKD. Sweeeeet sale! I stayed in Argyle and every night I would go down to the ladies market to scout the shops in the area to find good buys.

The knee-length socks were from Forever 21 (SM Megamall), I can’t remember the price. I think it was around Php100-120. And of course, the Longchamp bag was a gift from a friend who went to Paris.

It was really cold in HK during that visit but I was able to wear skirt because I was wearing knee-length socks and boots which made me feel really warm. And also, the temperature went up to 17C and t’was a little sunny already.

I wish to go back to HK soon. It’s always nice to dress up there without worrying about what other people might think of you haha

2010. The year that was.

I know we’re already halfway thru to 2011 but it isn’t late to say goodbye to 2010, is it? Well. Whatever, I would still do this. Hahaha

Looking back, 2010 felt longer than a usual year would feel like. For most people, it might be that this year just passed swiftly. But not for me. This is the year of waiting, and being patient about it. It taught me things about respect, patience, relationship, forgiveness, self-worth, finances and having fun while working hard. Also this year I was able to give “chasing the dreams” a try. It wasn’t full blown but it was a good one, at least a start.

Like 2009, this year is also eventful — I went to places and met a lot of wonderful people along the way. I started being travel-savvy in 2009, influenced by someone I loved dearly. We went to a lot of places in 2009, and we still did this past 2010 but this year was really for me in terms of travel. I went to places he haven’t been to.

Also, later part of this year was painful for me. There were learnings I wouldn’t be able to learn any other way. There were mistakes made and grudges held on to. I broke my heart and I broke it again. And though I was jaded during the late part of the year, I’m still here moving on with my life.

And yes, this year I enjoyed making love to the camera. I have several pretty shots taken by my blogger friends who are into photography. I might make a good modeling career soon. Haha.

So here’s the gist of my 2010:

January – This is A and I’s first international trip. We celebrated our first anniversary touring Hong Kong and Macau. We almost got lost in Macau and we could have boarded the train to Shenzhen if we didn’t notice there are no more English signs anywhere.

February – This is my first trip with A and his family. His older sister who just came home from Canada treated us to a 4D3N getaway in Boracay. We stayed at Boracay Regency and did a lot of fun stuff together. It was also my first time in Boracay then, Oh I so love the beach!!

March – I wasn’t able to visit any place this month because I was pretty busy with all the transition happening as I transfer from one team to another.

April – is the month of longing. A was sent to Germany and France for a company training. He was out for a month and it’s the longest we’ve been apart from each other. I can swear I almost drove myself nuts crying almost every night because I was missing him badly. I know that sounds tremendously OA.

And while A’s away, I used my free time to take care of my application for my master’s degree.

Also, this is the month I first tried to be spontaneous with regards to traveling. I joined Benj’s group during holy week in Sagada. We spent 3days up there and the experience’s priceless. I really wanna go back there. Who wants to join me?

May – I was really lucky to be picked as one of the DFAT 2010 participants. Not only that we experienced great tasting dishes and delicacies from Davao, we also had a lot of fun with zorbing and zipline adventures.

June – A and I, together with two of my closest college friends and their boyfriends, went to paradise that is the Caramoan Islands. We also spent a day in CWC in Naga. Yes. I tried wake boarding. And no, it’s not my thing. : ))

August – birthday treat from A was an overnight stay at Bellarocca Island Resort. Well, I think that’s one of the pricey-est getaway we had.

September – Mica, Sarah and I went to GenSan, it was like a reunion because the three of us were also together in Davao for DFAT 2010. Avel and Orman hosted us.

October – This is the month I almost fell apart. Relationships were broken, spirits wounded. I still don’t know how I was able to survive it. But I’m glad I did.

November – The West Pangasinan adventure with new blogger friends! We went to Alaminos and Bolinao. I have been wanting to visit Bolinao, so when Mica invited me to join the trip she was organizing, there wasn’t any doubt when I said yes. Fun fun fun trip! And I will forever treasure the good friends I found.

And also during the later part of this month, I had yet another CDO-Camiguin trip, this time with college friends.

December – I spent most of the month recuperating from all of the unfortunate events that happened to me and to my relationship with A. We also spent the last days of the year planning for our 2011 trips, and promising each other to be better partners to each other.

Grande Island Subic – and why it’s not worth your money

Last month, our team had an offsite in Grande Island Resort, Subic. We stayed there for less than 24 hrs and we paid 13 000 for 5 rooms, each can accomodate 4 persons. Of course, the offsite was fun and that’s because my team never failed to have a fun offsite. The thing is, Grande Island is not much of a beauty like what we’ve thought it is.

So here’s my break-it list for Grande Island Resort, Subic.

For a starter, the “island” doesn’t have a long and pretty shore that islands should have. So lower your expectations if you’re about to visit Grande Island.
There’s no exhilarating view of nature or whatsoever. Not that I’m being a cynic here, but hey I’ve been to beaches and islands and places like that, and I know how to appreciate natural beauty.
When you ask for water, you will be given tap water. And by tap water, it would taste like tap water. Rusty.
Banana boat rides will only last about 5 minutes, more or less. It didn’t go far in the water and it wasn’t fast enough to send all of us hanging, sliding and falling.
The infinity pool that they are boasting on their site is not even full when we got there, and in the morning after we arrived, considering there were at least 300 other guests coming in that next day.
They have ATVs but there’s no terrain to use that vehicle for. And it cost a fortune. A hundred for a 15-minute ride. Meh.
Yes they said they have wi-fi, they do, really. But hey, it’s not for free. You need to login and you need to buy the credentials from the front desk.
You can’t enjoy snorkeling because there’s not much to see under the waters of Grande Island but hundreds of little fishes (like dilis, only an inch bigger). No colorful corals and fishes and stuff like that.
On the other side of the island, there’s the waste drain straight to the water. That side of the island looks dead. And smells dead.
The ferry service that took us from Subic mainland to the island was scheduled two in the afternoon, and took us back 1pm the next day. That means we didn’t enjoy much the morning beach thing you would normally enjoy.

2009. The year that was.

So here goes my not-so-late goobye 2009 post. =)

I know this wouldn’t be the last time I would look back to 2009. It wasn’t the first and it wouldn’t be the last. 2009 wasn’t as crazy as 2008 but it’s wonderful like all the other years in my life. The people I met and have been friends with are invaluable.

In a nutshell, 2009 was a year of:

travel
opportunities to explore new things
frequent hospital visits
getting in touch with friends and old classmates
happiness and love
love-hate relationship with **
and a whole lot of learning

January last year I got to be a lead actress on a film Kuya Bunso made by my dear friend Mica. It was the first time that I did a role and woah! Was it really hard! I already directed three films in my young life and never had I imagine how difficult it is to act. Before I would always get frustrated when my actors won’t deliver what I wanted for the film, but now.. I know.

Also, January, I met an accident. I got hit my a flying bottle.. a broken soda bottle.. on my right knee, and I have to undergo surgery so they can remove bits of glass on my knee cap. Ouch, I know. I was confined and wasn’t able to walk properly for a week. Aaron that time wasn’t the boiffie yet but he took care of him. Really sweet, ayt? My bestfriends Mitch and Louis were there too.

February was an exciting month at work. I had my first project and the results was great. Also, Boiffie took me to a wonderful (and pricey) V date – we dine at Pepato GB3, watched Push, grabbed coffee at CBTL and went to party with Mica and other bloggers at a Single’s Party night somewhere in Makati.

The first time Boiffie and I went out of town was on the first weekend of February. We went to Baguio to relieve the stress and trauma brought about by the accident I just had. The long bus ride to Baguio, the time we spent there, and the ride home brought Boiffie and I closer together. =’>

Then March came and we conquered Mindanao. Boiffie and I had a 4D3N Camiguin-Cagayan De Oro trip with his college friends. It was the first time I was able to travel by air, by land, and by water all in the same day! Camiguin white beach is really a beauty! It was the highlight of the trip for me! Unfortunately, on the last day I got really sick so I wasn’t able to enjoy the rapids that is white water rafting in CDO.

April Boiffie and I had another trip somewhere in Northern Luzon. We conquered Pagudpud, Laoag and Vigan. The beaches in Pagudpud can rival the beaches in Boracay. I lubbit!! We went to Paoay Church in Laoag, hitched our way to Cape Bojeador (and lost my wallet while taking pictures), beach bummed in Saud and Blue Lagoon, ate at Cafe Leona (Vigan’s finest), had a walkin-after-midnight at Calle Crisologo and a lot more.

May was full of anxiety and not much at all exciting. It was the month I presented my results and achievements for the first six months of my stay in the company. June was also uneventful, or maybe it was, I just can’t remember it right now haha. But seriously, other than the Boiffie’s birthday, this month was uneventful.

Boiffie’s birthday was memorable. It was the first time I went greater lengths with regards to efforts and surprises. I prepared a series of surprises for Boiffie and I almost made him cry.. poor little guy, he had no idea what I planned for his birthday.

Then came July, the getaway to Palawan with my teammates.

And then August! My birth month! Woooot this time it’s Boiffie’s turn to make my birthday a blast. And he did! He gave me a classic Anne Klein wrist watch and a weekend getaway in Tagaytay: Spa at Sonya’s Garden, dinner at Buon Giorno, party at Kontiki bar, picnic in Picnic grove, roadtrip to Caleruega, lunch and cheesecake at Bag of Beans. Melai and JC were also with us that time.

September I went home to Cebu for the first time in ages. Woooot excited much to see the grandfolks. Also I met some CBS people. It was also a getaway with Mica, Ada, Jehz, Winston, and Van and my first time to travel alone by air.
