Turning Tables – Adele

Adele. In her album 21.

Now here’s another song which I picked from watching So You Think You Can Dance that really hit close to the heart – Turning Tables by Adele, from her album titled 21. The whole album was inspired by a her own personal relationship with someone she thought was her soulmate and turned out otherwise.

This song is ridiculously painful. SYTCYD S8 is not yet over but I already have a favorite.

Here’s  Mitchell and Caitlin doing a Stacey Tookey contemporary piece for So You Think You Can Dance Season 8:

And here’s Adele performing Turning Tables live:

My favorite line from the Turning Tables would be : I won’t let you close enough to hurt me.

I’m in love with Adele, in a lot of ways I can relate to her songs and I can really feel it. On a disadvantage though, listening to most of her songs reminds me of the painful past I’ve be through myself.

Last year’s SYTYCD, my favorite song’s Christina Perri’s Jar of Hearts. I just love how the choreographers of the show would pick the songs for their dances, don’t you?

Turning Table (lyrics)

Close enough to start a war
All that I have is on the floor
God only knows what we’re fighting for
All that I say, you always say more

I can’t keep up with your turning tables
Under your thumb, I can’t breathe

So I won’t let you close enough to hurt me
No, I won’t ask you, you to just desert me
I can’t give you, what you think you give me
It’s time to say goodbye to turning tables
To turning tables

Under haunted skies I see you, ooh
Where love is lost, your ghost is found
I braved a hundred storms to leave you
As hard as you try, no I will never be knocked down

I can’t keep up with your turning tables
Under your thumb, I can’t breathe

So I won’t let you close enough to hurt me, no
I won’t ask you, you to just desert me
I can’t give you, what you think you give me
It’s time to say goodbye to turning tables
Turning tables

Next time I’ll be braver
I’ll be my own savior
When the thunder calls for me
Next time I’ll be braver
I’ll be my own savior
Standing on my own two feet

I won’t let you close enough to hurt me, no
I won’t ask you, you to just desert me
I can’t give you, what you think you give me
It’s time to say goodbye to turning tables
To turning tables
Turning tables, yeah
Turning ohh
